Doctor Roger Albornoz, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Universidad Peruana Unión (UPeU) and Past President of the Peruvian Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia and Resuscitation (SPAAR) was appointed as the first Peruvian anesthesiologist to be part of the Education Committee of the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiology (WFSA).
The WFSA is a worldwide organization of anesthesiologists who are dedicated to the total care of the patient before, during and after surgery. Anesthesiologists are leaders in teamwork and patient safety. In addition, they are experts in anesthesia, perioperative care, resuscitation, intensive care medicine and pain management.
They also carry out their mission through programs that are implemented in conjunction with national, regional and specialty anesthesiology societies. They also work with other organizations such as the World Health Organization, governments, non-governmental organizations, specialized medical organizations, academic institutions, patient groups and hospitals.
In this regard, Doctor Albornoz highlighted the constant collaborative work that the WFSA Education Committee has been carrying out with the 137 Anesthesiology societies around the world that make up the WFSA for the creation, development and strengthening of training programs such as internships, courses, consultancies, among others. Therefore, he mentioned that «It is important to provide academic training to our young student anesthesiologists so that they can generate a change in their respective countries».
Congratulations to Doctor Roger Albornoz for this achievement!
