On Friday, September 24, an agreement signing ceremony was held between the Association of Agricultural, Agro-food and Hydrobiological Producers of Puno (ASPAAH) and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FIA) of the Peruvian Union University (UPeU), Juliaca Campus.
UPeU authorities attended this event, Dr. Luis Cotacallapa Subia, Director General of UPeU; Juliaca Campus, Msc. Francis Herrera, Coordinator of the FIA. Also the respective coordinators of the professional studies of Food Industry Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Systems Engineering. In addition, the representatives of the Association, the president Mr.
Ciriaco Yucra Yucra and the General Coordinator Eng. Luis Alberto Yucra Chupa.
This framework agreement of inter-institutional cooperation, aims to «Develop projects and academic activities of research and innovation, for the strengthening and reciprocal growth.»
Francis Herrera, coordinator of the School of Engineering, mentioned the benefits of this cooperation: «This agreement will allow students to obtain places for their pre-professional internships. Likewise, they will be trained in an integral way: in research, development and innovation. On the other hand, as an institution we will be able to serve society through projects linked to the environment».
Luis Alberto Yucra, general coordinator of the Association, highlighted the importance of this mutual agreement: «I feel satisfied on behalf of all the producers for this first step, since it will bring many good results thanks to the students and professionals of this university. This integration of the private and public sector is positive for the social benefit of the entire population, especially in the province of San Roman». He also added that, to this agreement, specific agreements will be annexed: «We will sign specific agreements with the Professional Schools according to the various projects. Some of them are already been developed, for example, with the School of Food Industry Engineering».
