The Universidad Peruana Unión Campus Tarapoto will hold a symposium entitled «World Environment Day» which aims to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect and improve the planet. This academic activity is held on the occasion of “World Environment Day».

Betsabeth Padilla, coordinator of Curricular Design of Environmental Engineering of this house of studies, mentions that «it is important to know the urgent environmental situation of our planet and learn ways to protect and take care of the only safe place we have to live because environmental degradation is not inevitable and it is in our hands to act now to avoid the worst».

Sherly Reátegui, a student in the ninth semester of Environmental Engineering, said «the topics to be discussed come directly from the specialists of the Ministry of Environment of our country and this gives an important enhancement to this activity because it is not only academic but also the opportunity to learn from the best in our career».

The symposium will also address important issues such as the loss of protected areas, the deadly water pollution and the alarming melting of glaciers in our country and how it will affect us not only in our territory but also beyond our borders.

The symposium will take place virtually and will be transmitted through the official social networks of UPeU Campus Tarapoto and through the Zoom application in which the workshops will take place.
