As part of the Anniversary Week of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the Universidad Peruana Unión and World Food Safety Day, the Professional School of Food Industry Engineering held a webinar entitled «Importance of Food Safety Culture in the Food Industry» on Monday, June 7.

The event was developed through the virtual platforms of this house of studies and was attended by academic staff and students of the professional school of the Lima and Juliaca Campuses.

Luis Vásquez Salinas, an industrial engineer with advanced specialization in quality engineering with more than 15 years of experience in the agro-industrial sector in the area of quality assurance and management, was the guest speaker.

The event aimed to inspire actions to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food safety, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism and sustainable development.

It is important to mention that a safe food means that it is free of bacteria or chemicals that can be harmful to health. In this way, professionals in food engineering can ensure that what is consumed is beneficial to health and reduce the risk of disease.

At the end of the event, attendees participated in a question and answer session.
