Our History
The UPeU arises as a product of the educational work of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the world and in Peru. Its origins date back to the year 1919 when, with Harry B. Lundquist, J. M. Howell and Fernando Osorio is organized by the Institute of Industrial in the Miraflores district of the city of Lima. On the 12th of June, 1944, changing its name to Union College, which made it possible to obtain prestige at national and international level, both within the environment of the church as well as outside of it. April 30, 1969, he becomes the Center of Higher Education Union (CESU), oficializando studies of higher rank who was offering in their classrooms, from 1947.
17 November 1946, the Ministry of Education authorizes the transfer of the College Union to the town of Ñaña, where it remains today. In 1947 began the program in Theology, and in 1953 the program Secretarial and Accounting (Accountants Commercial). In 1976 the Board of Regents of the General conference of Seventh-Day Adventists recognized higher education offered to prove the higher education provided by the institution. In 1979 he started the Nutrition programs, and Nursing.
Due to the academic changes are made to the institution the name “College” was incompatible with the higher education. April 30, 1969, changed its name to Centre of Higher Education Union (CESU), a name that persists until it is the law by which to create the University Union Inca (UUI).
The law of Reform of the Education provided to substantial changes in the structure of the education state and private. For this reason, the academic area of the institution redesigned its plan and changed the name. On 16 September 1974, is called Adventist Seminary Union (SAU) for studies of the upper level.
On December 30, 1983, the institution is recognized by the peruvian government as the University Union Inca (UUI) to be promulgated by the Law N° 23758, recognising it as a legal person of private law, promoted and organised by the Association Union Inca of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Then, from November 3, 1995 by law N° 26542 changed its name to UNIVERSIDAD PERUANA UNION.
After being evaluated by the National Assembly of Rectors, in accordance with what is stipulated by the University Law N° 23733, acquires its full autonomy on September 25, 1989, on the merit of the Resolution N° 334-89-ANR of the National Assembly of Rectors.
The operation of the Graduate School was authorized by the National Assembly of Rectors by the Resolution N° 693-93-ANR, on 07 December 1993. In this way, the educational project manages to cover all the academic needs, from the initial education to the highest level of university education: the phd.
The year 2002, the UPeU has received authorisation for the operation of its subsidiary in Juliaca, and the year 2005 in Tarapoto. Peruvian Union University currently consists of 24 undergraduate programs,
23 master's degree programs and 7 doctorate programs in the headquarters in Lima; 13 programs of study in the filial Juliaca and 09 programmes of study in the filial Tarapoto.

The June 7, 2018, it was pleasing to receive the Resolution of the Board of Trustees No. 054 - 2018 - SUNEDU/CD, published in the Official Journal El Peruano, the licensing institutional allows the Universidad Peruana Union to continue providing the service of education. The SUNEDU could see that, as part of the reorganization of the university in the framework of the Law University 30220, this fitted all their normative documents related to research, teaching management, academic goals, infrastructure, and equipment, among other aspects of basic conditions of quality.
This year, the UPeU celebrates 105 years of institutional life, and 41 years of university life, affirming its commitment to train professionals of integrity, missionaries and innovative, through a curriculum and modern in an inspiring environment, under the leadership of highly skilled professionals. This institution also emphasizes vocational training linked to the work, the cultivation of a healthy lifestyle that allows for the integral development of the student, in classrooms are spacious and modern, with good student welfare services, in the midst of a natural landscape and well-preserved.
